F. F. Hitchcock recently completed construction on a new 3,000 square foot bar addition overlooking Long Island Sound at the Stamford Yacht Club. This addition features a hexagon-shaped room with specialty vaulted ceilings. This ceiling was a unique challenge for us due to the fact that air conditioning ducts that intersect at unique compounding angles are concealed under the mahogany paneling. The room also features in-floor radiant heating to make the room comfortable in the winter months. Additionally, this project featured a complete renovation of the existing kitchen in the clubhouse.
F. F. Hitchcock is in the finishing stages of a three year residential construction project in conjunction with Petra Construction in Guilford, CT. The construction of the Guilford Shoreline Project is a unique undertaking, with over 8,000 square feet of living space situated in two separate houses. Special consideration had to be taken during all phases of construction due to the close proximity to Long Island Sound. We look forward to the expected completion of this residence in Fall of 2010.
F. F. Hitchcock completed construction on an 8,000 square foot addition to Wilton Congregational Church. This addition included an elevator, administrative offices, classrooms, and kitchen. We were responsible for bringing the oldest sanctuary still in use in Fairfield County into compliance with today’s building codes while still providing attention to detail in order to keep its charm. We installed new heating, cooling, and mechanical systems within the new space and existing structure. Existing bathrooms were renovated and brought into ADA compliance.

Dormitory Heating System Renovations
F. F. Hitchcock recently completed work at Taft School on the McIntosh House Dormitory. The dormitory building, originally constructed in 1927, underwent a complete rehabilitation of its heating system with the help of F. F. Hitchcock Co., Inc. In addition to the heating renovations, the dormitory was also fully equipped with fire sprinklers. The heating system that was installed replaced an aging heating infrastructure that relied on cast iron radiators and an antiquated maze of piping and controls. F. F. Hitchcock replaced these units with an individual hot water convector in every living space. Each hot water coil is individually piped to the mechanical room using over five miles of PEX tubing. This new heating system will allow maintenance and facilities to individually control each unit to the occupants’ desired comfort. The system allows freedom of control as well as an increased efficiency of design.
